For King and Country
This online resource features some of the records relating to the First World War held at the Provincial Archives of Alberta, showing how Albertans were involved with the war. We can remember their involvement by reading about their experiences in records they created at that time. The project is intended to introduce students and teachers to the wealth of documentary history found at the Provincial Archives of Alberta. We have included a wide range of records including letters, diaries, minutes, photographs, glass plate negatives and printed ephemera. These are digital reproductions of the original, unique material housed in the Provincial Archives of Alberta. Archival records are an excellent way to understand historical events - they are primary sources, not secondary sources; archival records relate the experiences of those who participated through their own words and images.
