The Provincial Archives of Alberta is closed, effective March 17, 2020.

Effective March 17, Albertans are prohibited from attending public recreational facilities and private entertainment facilities, including museums, art galleries, community centres and libraries.

This closure includes any programming or rentals.

Though closed to walk-in public access, the Provincial Archives of Alberta will remain open to phone and email inquiries and will make every effort to answer inquiries of an urgent nature. The PAA encourages researchers to access our services from home.  Staff are available to answer queries and provide research assistance.

This facility closure includes the “pick up” of Historical Vital Statistics records. If you ordered an Historical Vital Statistic record, this record will now be mailed to you.
