Government Records Program

You can search for government records in the PAA’s AtoM database at https://searchprovincialarchives.alberta.ca/.

The Provincial Archives of Alberta preserves records of enduring value from government departments, as well as corporations, agencies, boards, commissions, and courts. The Government Records Program is part of the broader Government of Alberta information management framework, ensuring that government records are properly preserved, managed, and accessible over time.

Government records are subject to the Access to Information Act and the Protection of Privacy Act.

The PAA provides access to government records in the following ways:

• Members of the public with questions about government records can connect with the Sandra Thomson Reading Room for assistance. For access to information or privacy requests from the general public, please contact the PAA Access Archivist.
• Government of Alberta employees requiring records should contact GR_Reference@gov.ab.ca to reach the government records archivists team for assistance in accessing government records. Explore how the records at PAA can help you in your work with the publication Your Archives, Your Project.
