United Church of Canada (ca. 1830s - present)
Alberta and Northwest Conference Archives of The United Church of Canada is located at the Provincial Archives of Alberta. The Conference Archives holds records of the predecessor denominations - Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches (pre-1925) - and The United Church of Canada (post-1925), within the province of Alberta, the Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories, and north-eastern British Columbia.
Holdings include those records created by local congregations, such as registers of baptisms, marriages, burials, historic membership rolls and communion rolls, general membership lists, minutes of church boards, committees, organizations (including women's groups), printed annual reports of local congregations, congregational newsletters, local church histories, correspondence, accounts and photographs.
Over 500 local congregations (including closed congregations) have deposited original records in the Archives. Holdings also include those records created by Alberta and Northwest Conference and its presbyteries, including the records of church courts, staff, officers, committees, task groups, educational institutions, camps, social service agencies and hospitals operated by the Conference. Alberta and Northwest Conference also acquires the personal papers and manuscripts of ministry personnel and individuals associated with the Conference and/or The United Church of Canada. The Conference Archives is comprised of approximately 500 linear metres of records, ca. 1830's to present. Anglican Church of Canada (ca. 1870 - ca. 2000)
The Provincial Archives holds records from the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton and Athabasca. These records cover roughly the northern two-thirds of the province and include registers of baptisms, marriages and burials.
