Supreme Court of Northwest Territories (1887-1906)

  • In 1887, Canada established five judicial districts for the Northwest Territories: Eastern Assiniboia, Western Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Southern Alberta (which included Fort Macleod and Medicine Hat), and Northern Alberta (which included Calgary and Edmonton). The district divisions previously established in 1884 continued under the new system of judicial districts. A Wetaskiwin Division of the Judicial District of Northern Alberta was added in 1905.
