Private Joseph Leitheiser of Rosenheim died in an Aberdeen hospital on October 26, 1918, just before hostilities ceased. His court probate file tells part of the story, but the case file created by the estate’s lawyer provides additional details about the end of his life. Combined with his attestation certificate from Library and Archives Canada, a soldier’s life emerges from the past.
